For Immediate Release, Oct. 3, 2022 – Livingston Parish School leaders, Albany School Board Member Dr. Devin Gregoire and administrators from Albany Lower Elementary and Albany Upper Elementary will host a “brick breaking” ceremony for the new elementary cafeteria facility at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10.

The new facility will be a larger, more modern facility that will service both the Albany Lower Elementary and Albany Upper Elementary campuses. The new cafeteria is needed to accommodate growth in the local school district.

Gregoire noted that the new facility can also serve as a “mini auditorium” for the campuses for special events.

“This new facility will provide much needed space and upgrades to our food services programs at these schools. By increasing our capacity, students will be able to enjoy food service times that better fit into the school’s schedule,” Gregoire said.

The firm of Gasaway, Gasaway and Bankston of Hammond, La., is the architectural contractor for the project. The district is currently accepting construction bids for the project, Gregoire said, and he anticipates the project to get underway by the spring.
